Racial disparity in the child welfare system is a pressing problem for policymakers, practitioners, and advocates. The fact that Black children enter foster care at higher rates than White children and remain in care longer is well established – but not so well understood. Efforts to understand and describe the Black/White placement gap have given rise to a new set of questions, which this Chapin Hall Child and Family Policy Forum will seek to address. Panelists will explore the relationships between social context – family structure, unemployment rates, and adult education levels – and the degree of racial disparity. Panelists will discuss where to go with investments intended to promote equity. A recording will be archived after the event on the Chapin Hall website. Attend in person in Chicago (8:30-10:30 AM CT): |
