Baton Rouge Human Trafficking Summit

Date: Tuesday, November 28, 2017 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Duration: 9 Hours
The Governor’s Office of Programs and Planning in collaboration with key stakeholders such as DCFS, the Louisiana Alliance of Children’s Advocacy Centers (LACAC), Louisiana State Police (LSP), HP Serve, and the Governor’s Office Human Trafficking Prevention Commission will host a series of Regional trafficking summits to gather pertinent information from key stakeholders regarding the existing services, protocols, and community response to trafficking victims. Information gained from these summits will provide a statewide assessment of the strengths, resources, and gaps in services and protocols related to trafficking victims. It is our hope that information gained from the comprehensive needs assessment will be further utilized by stakeholders to strengthen existing services, develop new policies and programs to fill in the gaps, and to create a statewide network and collaborative response to human trafficking.
The summits will be held from November 2017-March 2018. Each summit will consist of a full-day of discussion facilitated by national experts with an expected group of between 50-100 key stakeholders per region. The planning team will strategically seek to engage as many cross-sector partners as possible to have representative groups from each discipline. Topic areas for the facilitated discussions for each summit will include, but are not limited to: Current community response, identification and recovery response, and follow up victim services response. The summits will be inclusive of the region’s anti-trafficking taskforces, coalitions and key agencies. These summits are made possible through funding from AMBER Alert, a program of the National Criminal Justice Training Center (NCJTC) at Fox Valley Technical College (FVTC).
